TANJUNG MANIS: Semop assemblyman Datuk Abdullah Saidol will continue to helm Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu’s (PBB) Semop branch after winning the post uncontested on Sunday (Apr 24).
Following his appointment, Abdullah Saidol called on all parties to avoid prejudice and hatred in politics as these can affect unity and harmony among the multiracial community in the constituency.
He added that although the Semop constituency has a majority of Bumiputera residents, the number of Melanau, Malay and Iban is almost balanced.
Hence, he said, PBB Semop Branch should focus more on the politics of infrastructure development and the socio-economy of the community.
The meeting attended by 252 delegates was officiated by the Deputy Minister at the Premier’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya.
Juanda reminded all PBB members to always be ready to defend the party’s struggle and the position of elected representatives.
“PBB members need to equip themselves with correct and authentic information to refute various criticisms and attacks from the opposition,” he added.
Meanwhile, the closing ceremony was officiated by Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Wahab.
He called on all PBB leaders in every branch to always work with the village leadership in ensuring every development effort implemented in villages and longhouses run smoothly.
He also called for the momentum of support for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to be continued in the 15th General Election (GE15) which may be held any time before the end of this year.
