KUALA LUMPUR: Local authority elections will not be held anytime in the near future as the Cabinet has yet to decide on the matter, the Dewan Rakyat heard today.
Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad Baharuddin Shah said the ministry was preparing a Cabinet paper on local elections which would be tabled for consideration and approval of the policy.
“The ministry has held a series of workshops to study the feasibility of conducting local authority elections from the period of 2018 until 2019,” he said. – Bernama
