KAPIT: Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) Kapit recently donated food items to health workers at Kapit Hospital in a show of appreciation to their dedicated services during the current movement control order period.

The items including biscuits, beverages and drinking water were received by the director of Kapit Hospital Dr Ivan Vun.

Chairperson of the SIDS Kapit, Annie Anthony Belikau who led the delegation, commended the health workers who were working very hard to safeguard the public health and prevent the spread of Covid-19 Virus.

Meanwhile the Youth Wing of Kapit Chiang Chuan Association donated similar aid to police personnel at the Kapit Police Department.

Apart from food and drinks, the items included hand sanitisers and disinfectants.

Kapit Chiang Chuan Association Youth chief Kalvin Saw and his younger brother Samuel Saw presented the items to Inspector Loh Xi Hua and Inspector Nur Hidayah who received them on behalf of the department.

Since the enforcement of MCO from 18 March, Kapit Police have been working closely with the Kapit Health Department, Kapit Hospital, District Council and other agencies to prevent the spread of the deadly Covid-19 virus to thistrict.

Meanwhile, Kapit Foochow Association has called off the Ching Ming festival that is supposed to be held today (April 4).

In a statement, the association said the decision was made in view of the current movement control order and also to prevent people from gathering as a preventive measure against the spread of Covid-19 virus.

The local Tai San Ten Association had also made a similar decision to call off its Ching Ming festival. Instead, members are advised to perform their own rituals at home as a symbolic respect to their ancestors.
