KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching has inspired university students on how they could help the needy during the Covid-19 pandemic through an online charity talk campaign titled ‘A Hope for Community’ on Tuesday.

A total of 40 students attended the two-hour online talk which was organised by UCSI University Kuala Lumpur and UCSI University Kuching.

Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan and supervisor Yong Tiong Yieng were invited as speakers for the talk.

“The Covid-19 pandemic does not prevent them from doing their best to inspire the youth,” Hope Place said in a statement.

“During the talk, we shared about what are the ways we can help the needy families during this pandemic. With the flood that happened recently in Kuching, we also shared our experience in helping and on how to help the flood victims.

“Previously, we only provided basic food supply to the needy under our care but now we include face masks, soaps and hand sanitisers. We are currently taking care of more than 190 needy families,” it said.
