Newly appointed SPAN members call on Taib

KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received a courtesy call from the Sarawak Public Service Commission (SPAN) chairman Datuk Dr Sabariah Putit at his residence, Demak Jaya on Tuesday (Mar 7).

The visit was to inform Taib on the new appointment of the chairman and members of SPAN effective Jan 1.

“Tun Taib is very grateful and proud of the development and progress of Sarawak today when recalling the situation in the past.

“He feels that Sarawak has no problem despite it being made up of different races in ensuring that the state’s public services are well taken care of and is able to support the mandate of the state government and the direction of the state led byPremier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,” she said when met by the media after the courtesy call.

In addition, Sabariah disclosed that SPAN would ensure the efforts, hope and mandate was fulfilled accordingly.

“With a firm mandate and support, we can perform our responsibilities to ensure that public servants are appointed based on meritocracy with good attitude, skills and knowledge,” she added.

Also present during the visit were the new SPAN members namely, Datuk Chaiti Bolhassan, Datuk Nicholas Sia, Datuk Simoi Peri, Abdul Rahman Sebli, Dr Robert Menua, Yussibnosh Balo, Alexander Vincent, Liew Jiu Ming and Alexander Unya as the deputy chairman.
