KUCHING: The visit by New Zealand High Commissioner and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) to Supreme Consolidated Resources Bhd (SCR) in Sarawak has strengthened trade ties and facilitated the exchange of high-quality New Zealand products in the local market.
The purpose of the visit was to explore avenues for increased collaboration, identify potential growth opportunities, and strengthen the already robust trade ties between New Zealand and Malaysia.
Led by New Zealand High Commissioner Michael Walsh, representatives from NZTE engaged in productive discussions with SCR’s senior management team.
SCR Director Roger Ting emphasised that the company has long been committed to fostering international trade and bringing premium products to the local market.
“The company’s dedication to quality and sustainability aligns seamlessly with New Zealand’s reputation for producing world-class goods, including dairy, meat, and a variety of agricultural products.
“We are honoured to host the New Zealand High Commissioner and his team, and are excited to share our prospects and experience with the current agencies that we carry.
“The feedback we received from brands like the Alliance and Greenlea meat range, Westgold, and Talley’s have been very positive from our consumers,” he said.
Furthermore, as part of this strategic initiative, SCR also plans to introduce a wider range of New Zealand products to its portfolio, ensuring that Sarawakian consumers have access to the best that New Zealand has to offer.
This collaboration, Ting said, is expected to pave the way for increased trade volume, greater market penetration, and a deeper understanding of each other’s markets.
Meanwhile, Walsh expressed his optimism about the collaboration with SCR.
“New Zealand is renowned for its high-quality, sustainable products, and we see great potential in working with SCR to bring these products to the Malaysian market.
“This visit is a testament to our shared commitment to fostering stronger trade relations and exploring new opportunities together,” he said.
The visit included a tour of SCR’s facilities, allowing Trade Commission representatives to witness the company’s operations and quality standards first-hand.
Discussions also touched on the broader benefits of importing New Zealand products, including knowledge exchange, technological advancements, and economic growth.
