The appointments were announced during the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) held at the Grand Riverine Ballroom on Saturday (Mar 15).
In his address, Ong reaffirmed the association’s commitment to empowering SMEs through enhanced support systems, broader networking platforms, and greater involvement in policy discussions.
“Our focus remains on fostering an ecosystem that drives business growth, innovation, and collaboration. We are committed to strengthening advocacy efforts and providing SMEs with the necessary support to navigate challenges and seize emerging opportunities,” he said.
A key highlight of the AGM was the establishment of the Young Entrepreneurs Bureau, which aims to empower the next generation of SME leaders.
Ong also outlined plans to expand business development programs and increase engagement in economic policymaking processes to ensure that SME voices are well represented.
“We urge all members to bring fresh ideas and continue the momentum of progress. Real impact is achieved through teamwork, dedication, and a shared vision to support SMEs,” he added.
Calling for active participation, Ong encouraged both council members and the broader SME community to contribute passionately and unconditionally to the association’s initiatives.
“Involvement should come from a genuine desire to build a stronger business ecosystem — not for personal gain, but for the collective impact, meaningful relationships, and a shared mission that benefits everyone,” he said.
As the association moves forward, it remains steadfast in its mission to support SMEs, drive economic growth, and cultivate a spirit of unity and collaboration among its members.
