SIBU: The incoming president of the Lions Club of Sibu Pahlawan (LCSP) believes service to humanity is his opportunity to share his knowledge, experience and love, to those who are less fortunate.

Dr David Ling Sien Ngan said he is fortunate, because not only is he able to serve, but able to provide his medical expertise to others
“As highlighted by our newly launched Signature Project of the year, the Ultrasound Scanning and Health Screening Campaign, it is the first of its kind in the history of Lions Clubs International.

“I wish to extend my gratitude to all the generous philanthropists that helped to make this dream a reality,” he stated in his maiden presidential speech during the LCSP’s 24th installation ceremony cum fund raising banquet held in a hotel here on Saturday night (July 30).
Lions District Governor 308-A2, Kapitan Connie Loh Ming Hua was present to witness the installation ceremony.

With his theme, ‘to inspire and to be inspired’, he said his adage in life is simple: work in silence and let the success be his noise.

He said he has dabbled in many things and arenas in life but one thing that remained true is that service to others is his calling.

“I quote the greatest boxer of all times; Mohammed Ali. He said: service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.

“In many ways, that is simply true. One does not become better by being a lonely island, one must blend into the society and to serve others in order to grow as a whole,” he pointed out.

Dr Ling also thanked the Lions sisterhood clubs of Kota Budaya, Kelantan and Manila Allied, Philippines for coming all the way to grace the event.
