KUCHING: Rhino Motors Sdn Bhd has launched the new 2024 Isuzu D-Max, a vehicle with five distinct variants, here today.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, who officiated at the launching ceremony, said the new 2024 Isuzu D-Max is not just a celebration of a new vehicle; it is a celebration of progress, sustainability, and Sarawak’s bright future.

“As Sarawak embarks on rapid development with numerous upcoming projects, the role and importance of reliable and capable vehicles like the Isuzu D-Max cannot be overstated, given the essential need for durable and efficient pick-up trucks in infrastructure development, agricultural expansion, and urbanisation project,” Wee said in his speech during the launching of the third generation Isuzu D-Max.

Additionally, he said to achieve the goal of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who has been vocal about the state’s vision to create liveable, healthy and vibrant cities, the city council is implementing a range of sustainable urban development practices, including energy-efficient buildings, sustainable transportation systems, and green space development.

Wee said the feature that stood out the most about the new Isuzu D-Max is the Euro 4 standard engine.

“This advancement is a major step forward to reduce environmental impact and promote cleaner air quality, and the Euro 4 standard significantly lowers the permissible limits for harmful emissions such as nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter.

“By adopting these engines, we are taking concrete actions towards achieving a greener and healthier environment for the residents of Sarawak,” he said.

Executive director of Rhino Motors Sdn Bhd, Lau Chee Howe, said that the new D-Max maintains the robust engines that their customers have come to rely on.

“Safety remains our top priority, and the X-Terrain range of D-Max now features a next-generation stereo camera with a 120-degree field of view, significantly improving the All-Sight suite of driver assistance systems, which includes autonomous emergency braking, which now has enhanced pedestrian protection and rear cross-traffic brake,” Lau said in his opening speech.

Furthermore, he mentioned that D-Max achieved record-breaking sales in 2023, with 9,650 units sold across Malaysia, and despite market challenges, they remained optimistic about this year’s sales volume.

To share the Isuzu Experience with prospective buyers, Isuzu Malaysia is conducting a nationwide launch of The New Isuzu D-Max at all its dealerships. It will offer an exclusive gift to those who experience the VR or physical test drive of the New Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain between May 15 and June 30.
