KUCHING: The launching of Sarawak Unity Education Fund (SUEF) is a reflection of the state’s commitment to developing talent and human capital.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said this initiative aligned with Sarawak’s focus on transitioning to an economy based on renewable energy, hydrogen, and digital technology.

“We need to equip Sarawakian youths and children with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable growth,” he said.

The SUEF aims to provide financial assistance to deserving individuals from all communities in Sarawak, helping them pursue higher education and acquire skills at recognised institutions.

“The aim is to develop and groom Sarawak talents into future leaders and contributors to our progress and prosperity,” he added.

The launch event, held here today (Apr 30) and represented by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian, saw the Premier announce that donations have already surpassed RM3 million and continue to grow. These contributions come from private corporations and individuals committed to this cause.

“This initiative, unique to Sarawak, showcases the unity of all races in our state and is crucial for transforming Sarawak into an advanced, high-income economy.

“Your effort will yield dividends for years and generations to come. Let us continue to uphold and spread the spirit of strong unity across Sarawak,” he said.
