PUNCAK BORNEO: Young voters aged 18 and above and automatically registered voters are able to influence the voting results in the Puncak Borneo parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).
The Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency currently has approximately 81,000 registered voters and 33 percent of them are 18-year-old and automatically registered voters.
Aware of the importance of those young and newly automatically registered voters in determine the outcome of the Puncak Borneo parliamentary election, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Datuk Willie Mongin advised them (young and new voters ) to come out in full force to cast their votes and use the opportunity and power to vote wisely, voting for the GPS candidate, that is himself.
“They (new voters) should see who the candidate is really honest and sincere to develop the community and treat them well,” he told reporters after his campaign talk in Kampung Giam here today.
According to Willie, the GPS government has drawn up many development plans for the youth of Sarawak, among which is the “Greater Kuching” initiative worth RM1.5 billion to develop the area to make it a socio-economic catalyst.
The initiative, he said, will open up huge job opportunities for the youth.
“For that reason, the youth should support GPS so that it can bring a precise and lasting community development agenda,” he said, adding that voters in Sarawak should not waste their votes by voting for candidates from other parties other than GPS.
Willie pointed out that there was no way Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), which only contested 10 seats, could form a government.
“The same goes for PKR which only wants votes and the victory of its candidates in Sarawak but has no sincere intention to help Sarawak and its people.
“If we look at PH’s governance for 22 months, it is clear that they have failed and we should not gamble with the future of our people, especially the youth by voting for PKR candidates.
“Blogger Raja Petra mentioned that PH wants to hold a conspiracy after GE15 to establish a government with PN (Pakatan Nasional) and BN (Barisan Nasional) and if this happens then Sarawak will not have a loud voice to demand for all the wishes of the people of Sarawak and at the same time Sarawak PH leader is determined by leaders in Semenanjung.
“Therefore let’s not waste time, we should give strong support to the GPS and GPS candidate in Puncak Borneo (himself),” he said.
Accordingly, he urged the voters in Sarawak to concentrate and focus on the victory of GPS because the big victory of GPS is very important for the progress and glory of the state of Sarawak.
