KUCHING: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) has received a sum of RM496,840 in corporate zakat from three companies during the fasting month.
Kumpulan Petronesa Sdn Bhd paid a sum of RM426,762, followed by Syarikat Sanjung Etika Sdn Bhd with RM53,938, and Pometia Sdn Bhd with RM16,140.
The zakat payment was received by TBS general manager Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie during a breaking of fast ceremony by the Sarawak Foundation Group at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) yesterday (March 28).
Present was Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang who graced the ceremony attended by approximately 1,000 guests.
During the event, Abang Johari also symbolically presented duit raya contributions to 50 children from the Yayasan Insan Kemajuan Sarawak (YAKIN), Sarawak International Secondary School Petra Jaya, and the children of Sarawak Foundation staff.
Also in attendance were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar and other Cabinet ministers.
