KAPIT: Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi attended the Kapit Coffee Shop and Restaurant Owners’ Association (Kapit CSROA) 41th anniversary celebration, held at a local restaurant here on Tuesday evening.
He said he always looked toward to the invitation together with Jefferson Jamit Unyat, who is Bukit Goram Assemblyman.
“I have many friends here and I like to make new friends. I spent my childhood here in the 1960s and 1970s.
“I know every coffee shop owner here. It is good they have passed their businesses to their children to continue the trade,” said Nanta at the gathering which was also meant as a pre-Chinese New Year (CNY) gathering.
On politics, Nanta said he entered politics because he has a vision and mission.
“We must do something good for the people. We must make use of politics to do the best for the people. Since Najib Razak became Prime Minister in 2009, we have managed to get many infrastructure and amenity projects for Kapit,” he said.
On the Jalan Kapit-Song-Kanowit construction, Nanta assured there was no ‘missing link’ at the end of Jalan Temalat-Ngungun.
“On Feb 20, the appointed contractor entered the site at Temalat to start the 9.6km road. On the same day, we finalized the deal to construct the 5.6km road at Nyungun bypass,” he explained.
“I really appreciate the people in Kapit here because I have their full support. As for me, I serve to the best I can for the people. I am always on my toes to do what I am supposed to do,” he added.
