KUCHING: Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, has pledged a RM30,000 contribution to the Kuching Autistic Association (KAA).
She announced this during the eighth edition of the Meow Autism Run 2025 held at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) foyer today, where over 3,000 participants gathered to raise awareness and support for the autism community.
“I am very happy to see such a large turnout this morning to support the autism community through this run.
“This shows how much all of you care for this cause!
“I am also truly impressed with the efforts of the KAA since 1998.
“And this morning, I am pleased to announce that I will be contributing RM30,000 to support KAA’s initiatives in providing long-term learning and training support for the autism community, regardless of age,” she said.

Nancy stressed that autism is not something to be taken lightly, and it takes an entire community to support not only those on the spectrum, but also their parents and families.
“I understand that the journey can be challenging – and that’s why we’re all here to show you that you’re not alone.
“This shows how much effort it takes to go through this journey. When I took on this responsibility, there was so much I had to learn about autism.
“So it really takes an entire community – a whole community, a nation, and a government-wide approach to support this,” she said.
Meanwhile, the event organising chairman, Ryan Jee Kouk Hiong, shared his satisfaction with the event’s success, noting that it had generated a gross income nearing RM100,000.
“We hope that the Meow Autism Run will not only serve as a meaningful platform for the public to get closer to and better understand members of the autism spectrum community.
“More importantly, to accept them as part of our society – in line with the concept of social inclusion often emphasised by the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he said.
