KUCHING: SJK (C) Chung Hua Tudan, Miri is RM100,000 richer thanks to local companies here.
The companies, Naim Group of Companies and Permy Development Sdn Bhd, each gave the school RM50,000 to help it with building its multi-purpose hall.
Naim’s mock cheque was handed over by prominent business leader Datuk Amar Abdul Hamed Sepawi, the chairman of Naim Group of Companies, while that of Permy Development was presented by its director Datuk Abang Helmi Ikhwan.
Receiving the cheques for the school was its board of directors chairman Tan Sri Dr George Chan.
The presentation ceremony was witnessed by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Naim’s regional general manager for Miri, Patrick Kong, said the group has always taken into consideration the interest of the community in which it operates.
‘We have been active in providing assistance to Chinese schools in Sarawak since 2005. To step up our assistance to Chinese schools, we launched our Naim Foundation Academic Excellence programme in 2016 for secondary schools.
“This programme rewards high performing students and well-rounded students overall, and provides financial assistance to deserving students,” Kong said.
According to him, a total of 17 secondary schools including some Chinese schools in Sarawak are under the programme.
“We believe that students are our hope for the future. This is our way of assisting and motivating them to be the best they can be, in line with our philosophy of building value in every way for our communities.
“We hope that our contribution can help SJK (C) Chung Hua Tudan and we wish its board of management, principal, teachers and students all the best in their future endeavours,” he added.
