KUCHING: National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) also focus on boosting the economic development of local communities.
Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said this is being done through the NADIpreneur initiative, which offers basic business training, mentoring, and advisory services to participants interested in venturing into entrepreneurship.
Under this entrepreneurship programme, Teo stated that the target is 7,000 participants, with one of its key components being **NADI EmpowHER**, which specifically focuses on women’s empowerment.
“As of March 31 this year, a total of 3,390 women have participated in entrepreneurship training under NADI Smart Services.
“I also hope that women who are interested in exploring e-commerce can reach out to NADI, as various workshops will be offered.
“Some already have products but don’t know how to do proper packaging. For example, their packaging may not look professional — but here, we have courses that teach them how to do it,” she said during a press conference after launching NADI Padungan here Monday (April 14).
Earlier, during her visit to NADI Pending, she mentioned that an entrepreneur also underwent training through NADI despite having limited skills.
“So this shows that if someone is truly interested in becoming a digital entrepreneur, NADI offers various courses for them.
“We’re also working with platforms like TikTok, Shopee, and Lazada to train individuals to become e-vendors on these platforms… so everything can be arranged through our programme,” she added.
To promote the initiative at the grassroots level, she called for support from all parties.
“We work closely with the state government, with Members of Parliament, and with ADUN (state assemblymen) offices, because this is a community service.
“If more people help us promote it, I believe we can reach even more individuals and groups,” she said.
