KUCHING: Islamic religious authorities in Muslim-minority countries have expressed interest in learning from Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) on its management methods.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said TBS hopes to share its management methods next year.

“Among the countries that want to follow our footsteps (in setting up) the TBS method are Cambodia, China and Hong Kong that have minority Muslim groups in the region.

“The countries concerned are confident in the management practised by TBS and want to adopt the same method,” he was quoted by TVS in a news report.

Earlier, Abang Johari was attending the Islamic agencies thanksgiving ceremony which was held at the Sarawak Islamic Council (SIC) yesterday (Jan 12) evening.

On another note, he said the establishment of an Islamic astronomy centre in Kuching will be equipped with the latest technology such as the one in Bintulu, Sibu and Miri.

Also present were Premier’s wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
