KUCHING: Three men arrested in connection with a murder at an apartment in Jalan Sungai Tapang on Dec 1 have been released on bail and will now assist the prosecution as witnesses.

The Magistrate’s Court today (Dec 27) granted bail of RM15,000 with one surety each to the three men, aged between 48 and 32.

Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan allowed the application by Inspector Mohd Safuan Mohd Nasir under Section 118 of the Criminal Procedure Code to secure their attendance in court.

This was to ensure the presence of these individuals who will now provide testimony in the murder investigation.

The three men, represented by lawyer Lim Lian Kee, were arrested earlier this month.

Separately, the fourth suspect in the case, also aged 48, was released today (Dec 27) after his remand period ended.

He will also assist the prosecution as a witness.

The fifth and sixth suspects, whose remand was extended until today (Dec 27), remain in custody.

The 22-year-old victim was found dead in his apartment room with slash wounds on his body on Dec 1.

Police have arrested six suspects in connection with the murder.

The first three suspects were released on bail earlier this month with a bond of RM15,000 each.
