MUKAH: The constituency will host this year’s Sarawak Youth Day, an initiative aimed at recognising and empowering youths in the state.

The event will also serve as a platform for them to showcase their talents, participate in sports, recreation, and entrepreneurial activities.

Tellian Assemblyman Royston Valentine described the event as a celebration of youthful spirit and the leaders of Sarawak’s future.

“Sarawak Youth Day is a celebration of youthful spirit and the future leaders of Sarawak. This programme is also designed to inspire positive changes within the surrounding community,” he said.

Royston was speaking at the Final Preparatory Meeting for 2024 Sarawak Youth Day, chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MYSED) Morshidi Fredrick at the New Administrative Centre here.

Scheduled to take place from Dec 4 to 8 at Kingwood Resort Mukah, the event promises a range of engaging programmes aimed at nurturing youth potential.

Royston also highlighted the privilege for Mukah’s youths to host and participate in this significant event, emphasising the opportunities it brings for personal growth and community development.

“I encourage all young people to join these exciting programmes, gain knowledge and experiences, and unleash their potential. Together, we can shape the future of Sarawak and Malaysia,” he added.

He also noted that the annual event serves as a reminder of the government’s commitment to youth development, especially in advancing post-pandemic recovery through the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate the event on Dec 7 at Kingwood Resort Mukah.
