Mukah District holds National Landscape Day

MUKAH: The 2017 Mukah District National Landscape Day was held at Taman Pehin Setia Raja (TPSR) here yesterday.

The event started with the arrival of the participants who gathered in front of the grandstand at about 7.30am, followed with the singing of the National and State Anthems.

Thereafter, a mass aerobic exercise was held, led by a youth dance group who called themselves ‘Power Rangers’.

TPSR Rakan Taman working committee manager Councillor Jay Kram, who represented Tellian State Assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo, officiated at the event.

Speaking at the event, Jay called upon the people in the area to work together to ensure that the park would always be in a desired condition, especially in terms of beautification, cleanliness and, above all, safe for the people.

“The park, although located in the heart of Mukah town’s business centre, belongs to every one of us, including those living at the suburban areas. So it is very important for us to have a sense of belonging to ensure the park is always in good condition and safe for everybody,” he said.

Jay and Mukah/Dalat District Council (MDDM) deputy chairman Mawar Awang performed tree-planting ceremony to symbolically launch the Mukah District National Landscape Day.

After the tree-planting ceremony, all those present joined a ‘gotong-royong’ activity clean the park which is located in front of Mukah Division’s tallest building, Menara Pehin Setia Raja.

Also present at the event were MDDM secretary Hajah Norhalimah Mohd Hamni, heads of department and local community leaders.
