A total of 87 participants took part in the competition, which commenced at 9 am and concluded at 2 pm. The event was organised by the Balingian Melanau Generation Association (PGMB) in collaboration with the Balingian Kite Club.
According to the chairman of the competition, Drahman Sepri, its primary objective was to promote Sungai Balingian to individuals from outside the area.
“The competition aims to showcase Sungai Balingian to a wider audience and attract anglers from other regions to visit and explore Balingian. It also serves to foster a stronger relationship between PGMB and the Balingian Kite Club,” he said to Suara Sarawak.
Participants came from various locations, including Bintulu, Sebaoh, Mukah, Selangau, Miri, as well as Balingian itself.
