MUKAH: The Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants awarded must be used effectively and bring benefits to the wider community.
Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine emphasised that recipients of the grants should inform others once they have received them.
“If the grant is received by a village chief, they must inform the villagers so that everyone is aware of the matter.
“With the grant, we hope it can be utilised together with the village community and the respective club members involved,” he said during the Tellian State Constituency MRP Grant Presentation Ceremony held at the Tellian Service Centre yesterday.
In relation to that, Royston also reminded grant recipients to submit a report on the activities that have been carried out.
He stressed that it is important to keep proper records of how the funds have been spent.
A total of 51 recipients received MRP grants under the Tellian constituency, amounting to RM485,000.
Recipients included Village Development and Security Committees, clubs, Parent-Teacher Associations, and non-governmental organisations.
Following the MRP grant presentation, Royston continued with a casual Hari Raya gathering organised by the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) Tellian Branch and the Tellian Service Centre, together with attending guests.
The event served as an opportunity to strengthen bonds of friendship and unity among attendees.
