SARIKEI: Minor rural project (MRP) grants are set to help local organisations implement various programmes that benefit the community, reinforcing the government’s commitment to grassroots development.
A total of 49 organisations in the Repok area, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), associations, and mosques, have received MRP grants amounting to RM219,500.
The grant presentation ceremony was officiated by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, who is also the Sarikei MP and Repok assemblyman, yesterday.
In his speech, Huang noted that the financial assistance would enable recipient organisations to run initiatives that directly benefit the local community.
In addition to the grants, he announced an initiative to provide school uniforms for students in the Sarikei parliamentary constituency, aimed at easing the burden on parents while motivating students to excel.
“This initiative not only helps ease the burden on parents but also serves as motivation for students to strive for excellence,” he said.
He expressed hope that such efforts would nurture quality human capital capable of becoming future leaders and contributing to national development.
The distribution of MRP grants reflects the government’s continuous effort to empower local organizations and strengthen community development.
