KUCHING: The 7th Mile area here has grown into one of the most vibrant commercial centres under the Padawan Municipal Council’s administration, but there are still lingering problems.

MPP Chairman, Tan Kai, conceded that there were still issues like flash flooding, traffic congestion, and limited parking there.

He assured that the council will continue working closely with stakeholders to implement solutions through the upcoming Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) initiatives.

Engagement with local business owners will also continue to ensure adherence to regulations, particularly concerning illegal extensions and improper signage, he said.

Development at the 7th Mile area took centre-stage during a ‘Hari Raya Aidilfitri Ramah Tamah’ event hosted by Hong Leong Bank’s 7th Mile branch today.

Tan, who officiated at the event, said the presence of major banks, including Hong Leong Bank, reflects the strong commercial confidence and ongoing economic expansion in the area.

He also highlighted the successful completion of Sentosa Square which is an RTP-funded project carried out with the support of the elected representative.

The place has since become a lively space for community programmes and Ramadan bazaars, symbolising the area’s transformation into a hub for both business and public activity.
