KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) will introduce four new technologies and innovations developed by its researchers at the Transfer of Technology Seminar and Exhibition (TOT 2021) webinar on July 1.

Its director-general Dr Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir said MPOB’s latest discoveries comprised two disease control technologies in oil palm plantations, one biomass technology for pollution control in oil palm mills and one plantation engineering technology specifically for the transportation of fresh fruit bunches.

These new technologies will encourage the use of innovation and new techniques which will increase plantation efficiency and the productivity of oil palm crops, he said in an interview on Bernama TV’s ‘Koresponden Bernama’ programme today.

“This seminar provides an opportunity for the people to see new and old technologies, and if any of them are interested, they can contact the MPOB to obtain a license for the commercialisation of MPOB’s technologies.

“Not only will we provide technical expertise and research facilities, but we will also assist them until they have successfully commercialised the oil palm product,” he said.

To-date, 30.68 per cent or 216 out of 704 MPOB’s technologies have been successfully commercialised.

Ahmad Parveez added that MPOB welcomes the participation of small and medium enterprises in the seminar to enable MPOB to help them improve the palm oil industry’s economy.

TOT is an annual event that has been held for the past 20 years. It acts as an important platform in disseminating the latest research findings and technologies to local entrepreneurs and parties interested in exploring technology-based business opportunities in the palm oil industry.
