SIBU: Sibu Member of Parliament Oscar Ling Chai Yew’s Service Centre is launching its first community subsidy goods event in 2025 on January 4 (Saturday) with 1,000 packages available.

The event will be held at Everwin Supermarket in Swan Square on Ling Kai Cheng Road from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.

According to Ling, his service centre has prepared 1,000 subsidised goods packages for Sibu residents in need. Each household is limited to purchasing one package.

He explained that after a 32% subsidy from his allocated funds, each package would only cost RM30 (the original price being RM45.90).

“The purpose of the subsidy program is to ease the financial burden on Sibu residents. This program is a regular monthly initiative of my service centre and is warmly received by the public,” he said in a statement today (January 2).

Ling stated that the subsidised items include 10kg of white rice, 10 eggs, rice vermicelli, 1kg of cooking oil, 500g of condensed milk, and biscuits.

Additionally, with each coupon, buyers can purchase one pack of milk powder (for children or seniors), he said, adding a rebate of RM5 is available for milk powder priced above RM20, which can be redeemed with a fuel voucher.

He said the subsidised items are not sold individually and must be purchased as a package through cash transactions.

“Each household is limited to one package on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out. Buyers will also receive a small gift. This subsidy program is part of the government’s effort to reduce the economic burden on the public,” Ling added.
