KUCHING: Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen accompanied several members of the public to lodge a police report regarding a hit-and-run incident involving a dog last Thursday (Jan 16).

The Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman was joined by his special assistant, Michael Kong Feng Nian, at the Sungai Maong police station today (Jan 19).

In a statement issued, Chong expressed concern over two CCTV footages that went viral, showing a dog being run over by a car.

“Sadly, the dog died after the incident. Today (Jan 19), a few members of the public who saw the video have come forth to lodge police reports on the incident.

“My assistant Michael Kong and I came to the police station in support of their cause,” he said.

Chong, who is also the Padungan assemblyman, hoped that the police would swiftly carry out an investigation into the report.

Based on the 14-second and eight-second video clips, the incident happened around 5.40 pm at Lorong Stampin 7, when two dogs were outside.
