MP allocates RM106,000 to boost healthcare

MIRI: In a significant boost to healthcare services within the Miri parliamentary constituency, its Member of Parliament, Chiew Choon Man, announced a total allocation of RM106,000 under the ‘Projek Mesra Rakyat’.

The funds were directed to three health clinics – Tudan Health Clinic, Senadin Health Clinic, and Permyjaya Community Clinic – to enhance their capacity and quality of care.

On Monday, Chiew conducted site visits to the clinics as part of a review of the project’s implementation. The allocations aim to improve the efficiency of health services, focusing on promotion, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Tudan Health Clinic received RM83,000, primarily for medical equipment. Key contributions include a portable 6-lead heart monitor worth RM2,100 to aid early detection of heart issues during outreach programmes and physiotherapy equipment valued at RM47,900, including treadmills, ultrasound therapy machines, and mobility aids.

Additionally, RM2,500 was allocated for occupational therapy tools like a cognitive stimulation set to support rehabilitation, alongside RM30,500 for general medical items such as blood pressure monitors and fetal dopplers.

Senadin Health Clinic was allocated RM13,000 for general medical equipment, including blood pressure monitors and thermometers.
Permyjaya Community Clinic received RM10,000 for similar essential medical devices.

The visit saw Chiew accompanied by Dr P Raviwharmman Packierisamy, Miri Division Health Officer; Sharifah Zahidah Izzati Wan Kamal from the Sarawak State Development Office (Miri Zone); and representatives of the clinics. Both Chiew and Sharifah Zahidah expressed their gratitude to the Miri Division Health Office for their swift and effective execution of the project.

Speaking during the visit, Chiew emphasized the importance of maximizing the use of the new facilities to improve public health services in Miri City. He reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the well-being of his constituents through similar initiatives.
