SRI AMAN: A 75-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a road accident involving a Toyota Hilux at KM 64, Jalan Sri Aman-Kuching, near Sungai Tenggang, at around 1.14 pm yesterday (Mar 13).

Sri Aman police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said Jimmy Nyaring was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Sri Aman Hospital.

“Initial investigations revealed that the 32-year-old Toyota Hilux driver was traveling from Sri Aman towards Kuching when a Yamaha Y88 motorcycle unexpectedly entered his lane from the opposite direction at a P-turn, going against traffic.

“The driver could not avoid the collision due to the close distance,” he said in a statement.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown onto the road shoulder, resulting in fatal injuries.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
