KUCHING: A man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a van at Jalan Sungai Tapang, Padawan on Thursday.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the deceased had been identified as Chen Nyuk Shin, 55, from Jalan Stampin here.
According to him, the 1pm accident happened nearby Taman Tapang Emas, when the victim lost control of his motorcycle and entered the opposite lane, ramming into the front of the van.
“As a result of the collision, the deceased suffered serious head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene by a Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) medical staff.
“The driver of the van, 38, did not sustain any injuries,” Alexson said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
