ASAJAYA: A motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries, while his female pillion rider sustained severe injuries in a two-vehicle collision along Kilometer 18, Jalan Kampung Moyan Ulu on Tuesday.

Kota Samarahan police chief Supt Damataries Lautin said the accident, which happened at 1.41 pm, involved a Proton Waja car and a Yamaha Y15 motorcycle.

“Investigations found that the motorcycle, ridden by the victims, was travelling from Asajaya towards Kampung Moyan Laut before it suddenly skidded out of control and collided with the Waja driven by a 34-year-old man.

“The rider identified as security guard Zainal Masri, 32, was rushed to Asajaya health clinic but was pronounced dead at 2.35 pm,” he said.

His pillion rider, a 39-year-old woman, sustained severe injuries and was referred to the Sarawak General Hospital’s (SGH) emergency ward for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Waja driver escaped unharmed in the accident.

Damataries said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
