BAU: A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with another vehicle at KM11.5 Bau-Kuching Road on Wednesday.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the incident occurred around 4.30pm, adding that the motorcyclist and the other vehicle were going in opposite directions.
“The incident occurred when the deceased who was heading to Kuching from Bau, is believed to be overtaking the vehicles ahead of him.
“However, he failed and lost control of his motorcycle before crashing into a car on the opposite lane,” he said in a statement.
The victim identified as Mark Allister Duwin, 24, was brought to Bau Hospital in an ambulance and was pronounced dead by medics at the emergency ward.
According to Alexson, the 25-year-old driver of the vehicle was not injured in the crash.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
