KUCHING: Mothers at the Labour Ward of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) received a festive surprise yesterday (Dec 15) when the Women’s Affairs Bureau of Sarawak United National Youths Organisation (Saberkas) presented them with food baskets.

Led by its chairperson, Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, they visited the ward to spread Christmas cheer.

According to the Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, and State-Federal Relations), the visit, known as “Ziarah Kasih,” is an inaugural programme conducted by the bureau in conjunction with Christmas Day.

“This ‘Ziarah Kasih’ programme sees Saberkas Women coming to the hospital to fulfill our corporate social responsibility by offering gifts of love, food baskets, and cheering up mothers who have just given birth or are about to,” Sharifah Hasidah told reporters at the ward.

“This is our first Christmas-related programme, as the festive season is approaching. One of the key activities of Saberkas Women is to uplift the community. Today (15 Dec), we chose to visit hospitals and maternity wards. This is one of our many initiatives to give back to the community and contribute to its prosperity,” she added.
