KUCHING: The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac) is planning to open the Southeast Asia Secretariat centre office in Kuching.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the centre would be able to serve as a centre representing Southeast Asia, to organise activities and exhibitions with United Nations Educational Scientific Cultural Organisation (Unesco).

“The centre will serve as a platform for conservation and the sustainability of the intangible arts and culture under the International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICHCAP) in Asia-Pacific region in South Korea,” she said in a statement on Thursday.

The initiative was one of the outcomes during a discussion which was held by the minister with Malaysia Arts and Culture Association (NGO) at Motac’s office here in Kuching.
