MIRI: Two terrace houses were engulfed in a morning fire while four others were slightly damaged at Lorong 2C-3D, Desa Senadin today (June 20).
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 11.17am incident as the tenants managed to evacuate to safety.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from Lutong and Lopeng stations were dispatched to the scene, about 8km away, after receiving a distress call.
Upon arrival, they found that two houses were destroyed and the other four experiencing about 10 per cent damages due to smoke.
The extinguishing deed was quickly performed using water sourced from a nearby fire hydrant. The fire was brought under control at 11.37am, followed by overhaul works to ensure that there was no risk of reignition.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 2pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
It was reported that the two burnt houses were occupied by five individuals while, the damaged houses were inhabited by a total of nine individuals.
