Anwar hit with ‘misconduct’ claim by ex-aide
KUCHING: PKR members have been warned against certain groups in their midst who are out to create unrest and turmoil among them ahead of the party’s national congress starting today.
The warning was issued by Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, who is also political secretary to PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in view of escalating infighting in the party.
PKR national congress will be held in Malacca until Sunday.
Farhash alleged that “troublemakers” were out to seek vengeance, and he cited a recent press conference by Anwar’s former research officer Muhammad Yusuff Rawther which was masterminded by Badrul Hisham Saharin @ Chegubard as an example.
“It is obviously a feeble effort to tarnish the party’s image — the work of an unhappy ex-member making a fuss because he has been sidelined,” he said in a media release issued in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
According to Farhash, Chegubard’s lifetime membership was terminated by PKR three years ago after he was found to have tarnished the party’s image and also caused divisions among members.
“He (Chegubard) had alleged that there were some wrongdoings in Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s administration with regards to the purported re-zoning of Paya Indah Wetlands.
And now, Farhash said, Chegubard seemed to be working with Yusuff, an ex-researcher at Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s office who was sacked for indiscipline.
Yusuff is a grandson of the late SM Mohamed Idris who led the Consumer Association of Penang (CAP) for many years and was also a close friend of Anwar.
“This is a clear example of someone out to seek vengeance and willing to let himself be manipulated and used to fulfill his own agenda,” he said.
While officiating at Perak PKR convention yesterday, Anwar warned his detractors in the party that his patience had run out and that he would act on any possible move to weaken the party.
News portal Malaysiakini reported that Anwar was accused of sexual misconduct by a former staff.
The
allegation was made by Anwar’s former researcher officer Muhammad Yusuff
Rawther in a statutory declaration dated Nov 19.
The purported statutory declaration was released just a day before the PKR
annual national delegates’ congress to be held in Malacca today.
Farhash Wafa claimed Yusuff’s statutory declaration was “masterminded” by Badrul Hisham in a “feeble effort” to tarnish the party.
Yusuff had released his statutory declaration on Tuesday during a “press conference” at an unknown location.
Yusuff is alleging that the purported incident took place on the fourth day of the Port Dickson by-election campaign. Anwar was the Pakatan Harapan candidate and eventual winner of the by-election.
