MUKAH: More business outlets here have started to use standing scanners to check their customers’ body temperatures at door entrances amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

It all started about a month ago after the standing scanner was seen at a telecommunication gadgets shop here.

New Sarawak Tribune today found that currently, more business outlets are adopting the new equipment.

Unlike the hand-held scanner, the new and bigger equipment is fixed on a stand or at a certain spot at a shop’s door.

Pharmacy shop owner, identified only as Ting, said the standing scanners are battery-operated, similar to the hand-held ones.

“The cost is RM200 per unit,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mukah district is still categorised as a green zone by the authorities as there are no Covid-19 positive cases reported so far.
