KUCHING: The Sabah Muaythai Youth Championship 2017 which was held recently at the Muaythai Papar Camp Centre, Sabah has left a pretty memory for some young athletes from Sarawak. Among them was Mohd Eswandy won the a gold medal in (67-71kg) category. Siblings Maurien Hii (51-54kg) and Morris Hii (57-60kg) each contributed a silver and bronze medal.

“Congratulations to all our young athletes for winning medals in their respective categories. It’s a good sign for us,” said the president of Muaythai Association of Sarawak (PMNS), Jumaat Ibrahim. Jumaat hoped that the athletes will be able to maintain their excellence reputation and performance in the face of other tournaments in the future.

The three-day championship attracted 90 muaythai athletes throughout Sabah and Sarawak. The opening ceremony was officiated by Deputy Works Minister and Papar Member of Parliament, Datuk Hajah Rosnah Haji Abdul Rashid Shirlin.
