KUALA LUMPUR: Corporate figure Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din has contributed greatly to various industries, especially with regard to the corporate and governance landscape in Malaysia.
He continues to create an impressive profile with his appointment as the new chairman of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Anti-Corruption Advisory Board (ACAB).
The appointment of Mohamad Salim, who is also the chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), as the chairman of the MACC ACAB is effective from February 2, 2025 until February 1, 2028.
The MACC is no stranger to Mohamad Salim as he was previously a member of the Consultative and Anti-Corruption Panel (CCPP) under the commission from April 2022 to March 2024.
Mohamad Salim has been reappointed as MCMC chairman for a two-year term effective March 1.
He first held the position from March 1, 2023 until last February.
He was previously a member of the MCMC board and served as interim chairman from June 2022 to December 2022.
Under Mohamad Salim’s leadership, MCMC recorded its best financial performance.
It achieved a net income of RM1.13 billion last year, an increase of 38 per cent from RM820.6 million the previous year.
Throughout his career across several decades, Mohamad Salim has held important positions in the corporate and regulatory sectors.
These included as group managing director of Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), founder of Gapurna Group, and non-executive chairman of Giant.
Mohamad Salim has achieved impressive success in the construction and property sectors over the past 30 years.
He has also received many awards from various parties, such as the Real Estate Icon during the 2016 Pangkor Dialogue and the Best Business Icon at the Utusan Business Awards in 2015.
Apart from his professional success, Mohamad Salim is also a long-time member of the Board of Trustees of the Cheras Education Foundation (YPC), which supports education in Malaysia.
His determination to bring about change in his community, industry, life or field of study has earned him the Eagle Award from the St John’s Alumni Association (SJAA) for his achievements and continued support of the St John Institution.
He also won the Best ‘Global Masterclass CEO’ award at the Middle East Business Leaders Summit in 2015. – BERNAMA
