MLNG helps longhouse fire victims

BINTULU: Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG) recently came to the aid of the  fire victims at Rumah Nura Buling, Sungai Teban, Labang.

The contributions, under MLNG’s Disaster Assistance Program, were presented by Sarawak’s Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, who is also Kemena assemblyman, Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, to Penghulu Robin Ro Amut.

Also in attendance was senior manager of Malaysia LNG, Mohd Haidy Mohd Sarian.

In his speech, Haidy expressed his condolences and sympathy to all affected victims. He was thankful  no lives were lost in the incident.

The contributions included RM200  cash and a set of basic food supplies for each affected household, five water tanks for the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) of Tuai Rumah Nura, as well as tables, chairs and canopies.

 Haidy hoped the assistance would help to alleviate the burden faced by the victims.

MLNG’s management was committed to supporting the community in facing challenges and rebuilding lives after disasters, he added.

The fire, which occurred at around 3.32 pm on September 12, completely destroyed the 23-door longhouse, namely, Tuai   Rumah Nura at Sungai Labang and made 350 residents homeless.
