Missing teenage boy, found drown

BINTULU: A teenage boy who was reported to have been swept by the current while bathing in a river yesterday (July 9), was found drowned.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received an emergency call on the incident, which happened near Rh Chundi, KM9 Jalan Samarakan at 3.10pm

e said a team of firemen, including divers from Bintulu station was dispatched a team to the location, about 45 kilometres away.


“A surface search and rescue (SAR) operation for a teenager, identified as Mohammad Iqram Farmizi Zainal, 18 was launched immediately.”

“The team later discovered the body of the victim at 6.15pm, about 15 meters away from the control post and 6.7 metres deep,” he said.

The body had been handed over to the police for further action while the SAR operation ended at 6.30pm.
