MIRI:  The body of a 70-year-old man, reported missing five days ago, was discovered near a vehicle in Kampung Beraya Batu 1, Miri, on Sunday evening (Sept 29).

Miri District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, said police received a call from the public around 5:05 pm regarding the grim discovery.

Acting on the information, a team from the Tanjong Lobang police station was dispatched to the scene to investigate.

“Upon arrival, officers found a man lying outside a car, unresponsive. A medical officer from the Bekenu Health Clinic was called to the scene and confirmed the victim’s death,” said Alexson.

The body has since been transported to the Forensic Department at Miri General Hospital for further examination.

Police have opened a sudden death investigation (SDR) to determine the cause of death.

Further investigation revealed that the deceased had been reported missing on Sept 25.

Alexson urged the public not to speculate about the case, as such actions could interfere with the ongoing investigation.
