SIBU: The mysterious disappearance of an elderly man,  who did not return home after going out to buy medicine, has been solved.

Ngu Hua Sing, 76, was found dead in a ditch in Jalan Mantis Selatan here around 11pm, Wednesday (Oct 7).

The victim is believed to have slipped and fell into the ditch while crossing a wooden bridge.

The wooden bridge, which measures four feet, was also broken at the place where the victim was found.

A family member, when met at the scene said, before the tragedy, the victim went to the pharmacy located in front of his house to buy medicine.

“He left the house around 8am to buy medicine but did not return home after that,” said a family member, who requested anonymity.

When the victim failed to return in the evening, his family began to worry and they went out to look for him but to no avail.

A police report was lodged the same evening.

They managed to find the victim in the drain around 11pm the same day.

It is believed that the victim had chosen to use a shortcut to go to the pharmacy, which was the wooden bridge instead of the road.
