KAPIT: A 12-year-old boy reported missing at Eighth Mile, Penrissen Road in Kuching, was found safe in Kapit on Wednesday.
Kapit police chief DSP Rohana Nanu said the boy, still in his school uniform, was taken to the police station after a concerned citizen found him at Kapit Bus Terminal, Jalan Beleteh.
“Investigations revealed that he had boarded an express bus alone from Kuching Sentral at around 9.30 pm on March 25 and arrived in Kapit the next morning at 8 am.
“His parents, who had lodged a missing person report, picked him up at Kapit police station at around 12.45 am today (March 27),” she said.
Rohana confirmed that there was no criminal element or kidnapping involved as alleged on social media.
With the boy safely reunited with his parents, the case has been closed with no further action (NFA).
It was understood that the boy managed to stow away unnoticed during the nine-hour journey from Kuching to Kapit.
His father had sought help from netizens on Facebook after his son failed to return home from school on Wednesday.
A missing person report was later lodged at Kota Sentosa police station.
