KUCHING: A 71-year-old man went missing while on his way home alone after undergoing a dialysis treatment at Sibu Hospital yesterday afternoon.
The man, identified as Wong Ging Yieng, was alone driving his car. Members of the public found him around 3 pm today near Tanjung Kunyit, Paradom.
The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said a search and rescue (SAR) operation began around 8 pm yesterday after the man’s daughter reported he was missing.
Police, Wong’s family members and local villagers assisted the firemen in the search.
The first day of the SAR operation was put off at midnight due to darkness and resumed this morning.
The operations centre said today’s search focused on oil palm plantations around Jalan Sawit Kin San with a search radius of 10 kms.
The SAR operation ended at 4 pm today after Wong’s daughter informed the firemen that her father had found by the public at Tanjung Kunyit, Paradom.
