KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief Miro Simuh has officially stepped down from his position, marking the end of his 15-year journey with the party’s Youth Wing.

Reflecting on his tenure, he expressed gratitude for the experiences and growth he gained through the party, acknowledging its role in shaping his political career.

“These 15 years, filled with joy and excitement, with only a few moments of hardship, have shaped me into who I am today.

“Without this platform, my political career might not have led me to become an elected representative.

“It was from this very foundation that my serious political career began—starting as a Youth Supreme Council member, then as Youth vice chief, Deputy Youth chief, and eventually Youth chief,” he said.

He said this during the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women and Youth Wings 16th Triennial General Meeting at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.

Miro, who is also the party’s first Bidayuh Youth chief, said the platform in PBB has taught him invaluable lessons and strengthened his understanding of politics.

He also thanked the party leadership, particularly PBB president, for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the Youth Wing for one term.

“During that period, we, the Youth Wing had successfully executed various initiatives and activities, strengthening the party’s foundation among younger members,” he said, while also extending appreciation to his fellow Youth Supreme Council members for their unwavering support.

Miro, who is also the Serembu assemblyman, also acknowledged the guidance and mentorship of past PBB Youth chiefs, including Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusuf, and Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu.

“Their encouragement, leadership, and teamwork will continue to inspire me as I continue my political journey,” he said.

Miro, 52, became a member of PBB at the age of 24. He was appointed as a PBB Youth exco member in 2012 and later elevated to deputy Youth chief in 2018. In 2022, he was elected as the party’s Youth chief.
