CONNECTICUT: Constanz Lim from Miri recently competed at the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Tournament of Champions held at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, the United States on Nov 13.
Lim qualified for the prestigious event at the Bangkok Global Rounds in September together with her teammates, Bernice Tan and Alfred Ong, after shining at the Kuala Lumpur Regional Rounds in April.
In addition to competing in the four core events, Lim had the chance of meeting new friends from all over the world apart from sharing their culture and traditions at the cultural fair.
She enjoyed a fun-filled Scavenger Hunt, teaming up with international participants to complete challenges in Yale University. Memories were forged through dance and fun at the Scholar’s Ball.
“As a regular student from a private Chinese school, joining WSC opened the door to a completely different world.
“It was a wonderful journey and an unforgettable experience. Through WSC, I had the chance to meet friends from all over the world, gaining insights into diverse cultures and perspectives.
“The Tournament of Champions (ToC) also significantly improved my writing and debating skills, while exposing me to a syllabus far beyond what I would typically encounter in a traditional school settings,” she said.
Lim proudly earned 3 gold and 2 silver medals:
Individual awards: Gold in Barely Senior Scholar, gold in Individual Writing, and silver in Debating.
Team awards: Gold in Team Writing and silver as a Barely Senior Team with her Loreto Convent Msongari team from Kenya.
Looking ahead, Champs Education said it is excited to announce the first-ever Miri Regional Rounds of the World Scholar’s Cup (first time in Borneo), set to take place between April and June next year.
The initiative aims to give more local students the opportunity to experience the life-changing breadth of the programme’s syllabus and events.
