MIRI: The Covid-19 vaccines have arrived safely at the Miri division pharmacy office about 9.20pm on Thursday, said Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin.
Through a statement today, Lee, who is also minister in charge of the Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), said the Covid-19 vaccines were delivered by road from Kuching to Miri.
The vaccines were received by Miri division pharmacy officer Eileen Yii Sze Shin, witnessed by Lee, DDMC chairman cum acting resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf, Divisional Health officer Dr P Raviwharmman, Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong Siew Yu, and district police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari.
“A total of three boxes containing the Covid-19 vaccines with an estimated weight of 20kg per box arrived in Miri.
“This delivery was carried out by a delivery company, accompanied by an officer from the State Health Department (JKNS) and a team from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), who escorted the delivery vehicle in turns as the vehicle passed through each division from Kuching to Miri,” said Lee.
Commenting on the Phases 2 and 3 of the vaccination procedure for Miri division, which would follow Phase 1 for frontliners that starts today and is estimated to finish at the end of April, he urged the public in the urban area who had smartphones and internet access to register for the Covid-19 vaccination through the MySejahtera application.
“Members of the public are encouraged to prepare early by registering now for Phases 2 and 3 of the Covid-19 vaccination to avoid being left out.
“The tentative date for Phase 2 of the vaccination process, which is for the general public at high risk (senior citizens, those with chronic illnesses, and so on) is April,” he said.
He said the health ministry (MoH) and Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) would officially inform of this in the near future.
As for those who did not have MySejahtera or internet access, vaccination application can be submitted via four other channels – district offices; ketua kaum (community chief) including Ketua Kampung (village chief), Kapitan, and Tuai Rumah who would be assisted by their respective Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs); Residents Committee (Miri City Council, Subis District Council, Marudi District Council); or at the nearest Health Office (for rural regions only) during office hours.
Lee also reminded the public to remain vigilant and always comply with the Covid-19 prevention standard operating procedures (SOPs).
