MIRI: From today (June 26) onwards, the vaccination centre (PPV) at the National Youth Training Institute (IKBN) in the district here will start administering the Sinovac vaccines.

Minister-in-charge of Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) Datuk Lee Kim Shin as the administration for the first dose of the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine, which started on June 7 has completed, IKBN PPV will continue to administer the Sinovac vaccine.

“A total of 800 Sinovac doses will be administered starting Saturday (June),” he said after visiting the IKBN PPV today (June 25).

He said as the existing venue space and facilities are sufficient, vaccination capacity could be increased to 1,200 if required.

“Previously, the administration of the AZ vaccine started from 8am to 5pm, but for the administration of the Sinovac vaccine it will start from 8am to 8pm.

“This is taken into account as it is anticipated that there will be more vaccine recipients and by extending the time to 8pm, it will provide an opportunity for recipients who arrive late to get the vaccine shots,” he said.
