MIRI: Miri has earned recognition as one of the top five destinations in the inaugural “2024 Malaysia’s New Horizons” list curated by Agoda.

In their press release, Agoda highlighted Miri, along with Pangkor, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan, and Alor Setar, stating that these destinations have captured the imagination of travelers in recent years.

Derived from search data comparisons, the list underscores the growing appeal of emerging destinations in Malaysia, witnessing substantial interest from both local and international travellers.

“Miri, sharing a 33 per cent search growth with Kuantan, has captivated visitors with unique offerings such as untouched nature reserves, lush rainforests, and the stunning Niah Caves.

“Its natural beauty and diverse ecosystems make Miri an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts seeking immersive and awe-inspiring experiences,” Agoda noted.

The findings indicate a growing trend among travellers to explore hidden gems beyond Malaysia’s key cities.

“We are committed to making these Malaysian destinations more accessible to both local and global audiences, offering some of the best deals to capture the imagination of today’s experience-seeking travelers,” Agoda added.

For the record, the inaugural “2024 Malaysia’s New Horizons” list is based on year-on-year comparisons of searches made on Agoda in November 2022 and 2023.

To qualify for the list, destinations must reach a threshold of 0.5% of total searches for the Malaysian market.
